Welcome to officially Britain’s most easterly town

We can’t wait to welcome you to our town this August for our annual celebration of independent film on the East Coast.

Below, we’ve compiled a list of all the useful information and links you will need to make your visit to Lowestoft stress-free and enjoyable. Whether you choose to stay in Lowestoft or nearby and travel to the town for the festival, there are plenty of options.

How To Get Here

The best way to travel to Lowestoft from outside our local area is by train via Greater Anglia.

There are currently no planned strikes or engineering works that will affect your travel by rail to Lowestoft via the Ipswich or Norwich lines.

International Attendees

For international attendees, the nearest regional Airport to Lowestoft is Norwich Airport, which can be reached by international flights from Amsterdam with KLM Airlines.

Our nearest direct international Airport is Stansted. Stansted can be directly accessed from Lowestoft by train via the Greater Anglia Stansted service to Norwich, with onward travel via train from Norwich Train Station or bus via Norwich Bus Station to Lowestoft.

The festival is held at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft Town Centre.

Where To Stay

Lowestoft has plenty of options for you to choose from when it comes to finding somewhere to stay for the night, from hotels, AirBnBs, camping, caravans, and seafront B&Bs.

Alternatively, you could look at staying in Norwich and travel into Lowestoft via the Norwich trainline or stay in the nearby village of Beccles and travel via the Ipswich trainline.

Please note, we’d recommend you don’t stay at the Waveney Inn or Waveney River Centre if you haven’t got access to your own vehicle, there’s a river in the way and you will need to drive 30 minutes around it to get to Lowestoft.
