We’re A BIFA Qualifying Film Festival:

A BIFA (British Independent Film Awards) Qualifying Festival For British Short Films (Section B*) At BIFA – Full Rules & Eligibility.

Awards:

Officially selected entries will be part of our official selection and the festival programme for the 6th edition.

Films will screen during the festival taking place from 19-22 August 2027.

Nominees will be invited to our red-carpet award ceremony that will take place on Saturday, 21 August 2027, at the Marina Theatre.

Each winner will receive a highly coveted trophy, certificate, and regional media coverage at our red carpet award ceremony during the festival in Lowestoft.

As a winning film, you will also be part of our ‘Best of The Fest’ programme that tours independent venues across Norfolk & Suffolk in order to bring independent film to more audiences across the South East region.

We also try our best to get industry prizes, and if this is the case give updates on these where relevant on our social media (Instagram @sunrisefilmfest).

We want to encourage submissions from directors from underrepresented backgrounds, local filmmakers, student filmmakers and first-time filmmakers. If our submission fees are a barrier to your participation, please contact us.

Fees cannot be waived under any other circumstances.
