During the Second World War England's East Coast became the 'frontline' and night after night, often in pitch black darkness, the men and women of Coastal Forces defended their country as best they could.

Eight decades later, this documentary follows author and publisher Julia Jones and her quest to discover and tell the story of those brave souls - including British naval hero and Gunboat Commander, Robert Hichens, who were based at HMS Beehive, Felixstowe.
