Writing Workshop with Sian Evans

Join experienced documentary filmmakers from our festival programme for an insightful session on the genre itself and how to get started as a non-fiction storyteller yourself.

In this session, we will be joined by University of East Anglia Lecturer Sian Evans to discover the ingredients of a really great scene. This session will cover the basics of scene structure and provide an opportunity for collaborative and practical work, guided by Sian. Whether you are an experienced writer or have never touched a pen and paper before, this session will provide knowledge and insight invaluable for your next script - there will also be space for questions for Sian!

Sian is an experienced playwright whose plays, translations and adaptations have been performed at major venues including the National Theatre.  She has also written extensively for television, including episodes of Peak Practice, Touching Evil, Where The Heart Is, Casualty and Holby City. Original TV dramas include Insect Life, Tide Race (BBC Wales), Hereafter (ITV) and Life Swap (TF1 France). Radio plays include Dancing On The Turf, Seeing Is Believing and Blown Away (Radio 4). She has just finished her third libretto for the Scottish opera company NOISE, due to be produced next year.  Her work has been translated and broadcast worldwide.
